Loy Krathong Festival is a family
activity on the night of the 11th full moon of the year, the festival
pays respect to the Goddess of the Water showing gratitude to the
plentiful use of water. Floating the beautiful Krathong away on water is
the key activity in Loy Krathong along with the floating of lanterns
into the sky. |

| "Songkran is known as the "Water Festival" as people believe that water will wash away bad luck". The festival is the traditional Thai New Year. This is the time for Thais to pay homage to Buddha images, clean their houses, and sprinkle water on their elders in a show of respect. Anyone who ventures out on the streets is likely to get a thorough dousing of water, all in good fun, but also quite welcome at the peak of the hot season.
